Story

I made it a point to smile at everybody that I passed instead of staring at the ground or looking at my phone. On November the 17th I was walking across a bridge in Lawrence. As I was walking across the bridge I noticed that a young man was walking across at the same time. When we got closer, instead of going back to my old ways of not looked at the person, I looked up and smiled at him. He smiled back and went a step further and asked me how my day was going. I told him it was going great then I awkwardly stopped and told him about Actively Caring for people. I pulled out my bracelet from my backpack and gave it to him. I then explained to him if he went on the website to register his experience with the bracelet, and then pass it to somebody that has done the same behavior you can see how one small action can have a big impact. When I started to see how many people didn’t even make eye-contact with others it really made me feel more confident and want to thank somebody for caring.
